Established in 2015, foundation partners of the Herston Health Precinct are Metro North Hospital and Health Services, Queensland Institute of Medical Research – Berghofer, University of Queensland, and Queensland University of Technology.

In 2017, Metro North Health entered into a ten-year development agreement with Australian Unity for the Herston Quarter Redevelopment Project. Australian Unity has also delivered an adaptive redevelopment of key heritage buildings including the Lady Lamington Building and two towers, and the Edith Cavell building. Australian Unity has now established its Queensland office within the Edith Cavell building. Current projects underway include a new carpark and a childcare center, with others in the planning process.

  • Pathology Queensland

  • CSIRO Australian eHealth Research Centre

  • Stryker R&D Lab

Attendees will be presented with an overview of Herston Health Precinct and tours of research institutes, biotechnology, manufacturing, and other facilities. Finishing with a light lunch and networking opportunity, hosted by Australian Unity in conjunction with Metro North, prior to the onward travel to Springfield.

Springfield - Participants will take a guided bus tour around Springfield and it’s master planned City including Health City encompassing Mater Hospital, Education City and BioPark. Then the group will walk through Springfield Tower to see the emerging areas catered specifically for Bio-Manufacturing, including an overview of the planned Aegros 1 million litre Fractionation Plant before touring the Southern RNA facility within the GE building, stopping for light refreshments before heading back to Brisbane.
