Early stage investment forum is a key element of the AusBiotech 2019 conference featuring presentations from research institutes, universities, hospitals and pre-series A companies in the area of human therapeutics and enabling technologies. The pitches will be made to an expert investor panel that will include international big pharma representatives as well as corporate VCs and early stage investors.

The forum will feature presentations from local research institutes, universities, hospitals and pre-series A companies in the area of human therapeutics and enabling technologies. The forum will take place on Friday, 1 November at the Ausbiotech 2019 national conference to be held at the Melbourne Convention & Exhibition Centre between 9.00am – 12.30pm.

At last year’s inaugural forum, we featured submissions in the following therapeutic areas:

  • New therapeutics

  • CNS, Pain & Vaccine

  • Oncology

  • Inflammation and immunology

Audience and participants found the the programme to be extremely informative.

Prize

To encourage, recognise and reward quality translational research at this year’s forum, BioCurate will award the “Best Translational Research” prize, to the value of AU$7,000 to the best pitcher and lead investigator/s.

Conditions of entry:

  • Submissions are only open to investible projects from Australian research institutions or companies seeking seed or series A investment;

  • Information included in the application process and presented on the day should be non-confidential;

  • Applications from institutions with Technology Transfer or Research Commercialisation Offices must have prior approval from the relevant technology transfer or commercialisation office, unless the entire IP rights to the project have been assigned to the individual submitting the proposal;

  • Where relevant, applications are preferred from the associated technology transfer or commercialisation offices of the Institutions;

  • Companies seeking seed or series A investment and Institutions without technology transfer or commercialisation offices should apply directly;

  • Presenters will be allocated 7 minutes per presentation followed by feedback

  • In keeping within the presentation criteria’s, successful applicants will be provided with a template for their presentation, with a limit of 5 slides (not including the title slide). The use of this template will be strictly enforced.

  • Successful applicants will be required to present on Friday 1 November between 9.00am – 12.30pm and will receive 10% discount off their standard registration rate

  • Successful applicant’s participation in this forum is contingent to purchasing either a full conference registration or the Friday registration no later than September 30, 2019 or their spot in the programme will be released.

Submission process:

To be considered for a spot in the Early Stage Investment Programme, you are required to answer 4 questions via the online portal. Before you log into the portal, it is recommended that you type up the answers to the questions in word, then cut and paste into the applicable boxes in the portal.

2.       Project Description (Maximum 300 words)

3.       What is the investment you are looking for? (Maximum 150 words)

4.       What will the investment be used for and what will be the outcome at the end of the investment? (Maximum 150 words)
